Hot Pies & Pastries

If you’re after hot pies Heywood locals recognise, you’re in the right place. We keep a pie warmer on the go with the sort of fillings people expect from a Lancashire counter — meat and potato pie, steak, and a proper cheese and onion pie that goes fast on a Saturday. Pasties and sausage rolls sit alongside them, all from Ernill’s bakery in Bury so the pastry and filling stay consistent. What lands each morning can vary, which is why we always say ring if you’re set on something particular — we’d rather be honest than have you miss out.

Traditional Breakfasts

For breakfast Heywood without ceremony, we cook a full English breakfast Heywood visitors and regulars both seem happy with — eggs, bacon, sausage, the usual trimmings when we’ve got them, and bread from the Bury bakery. It’s Ernill’s bread Bury baked, not something we pretend to make on site; we’re a local bakery bread stop in the old sense, where the loaf you see is the loaf you get. By mid-afternoon the favourite tins can be gone; mornings are your best bet if you want choice. Ask at the counter if you need several loaves or something we might be able to flag ahead with the bakery.

Sandwiches & Salads

Our sandwiches Heywood lunch crowd asks for are the straightforward kind: fresh sandwiches built when you order, not left wrapped in a chiller all morning. Salad rolls and lighter options get the same treatment — butter, filling, salt and pepper if you want it, then wrapped to take away or eat in. Tea & Coffee

Tea goes in a mug; coffee comes from the machine behind the counter. You can sit in with either or take it with you down Manchester Street or over to the ELR if you’re meeting a train. We don’t do twenty syrup flavours — we do a hot drink that pairs with a pie or a bacon sandwich. Same fair prices as the rest of the board.
